I do like the small size and the low profile. It looks good compared to other CO detectors.As recommended, the detector was installed in the hallway just outside our bedroom. The display is incredibly bright. It is easy to read in the daytime and is probably sunlight readable. However, since we leave the bedroom door open, it lights up the entire bedroom at night. Now I wish I had installed it at the far end of the hallway just to reduce the light level. I did the test the CO detector and cross-test with a Silhouette smoke detector. The CO detector does alarm for fire and displays the word FIRE. The Silhouette smoke detector did not report for the CO test. It did not seem that the CO detector came out of test mode cleanly. It's not clear if I didn't do the test correctly or if the detector was stuck in a weird state. Later (and also after a power... I don't have a problem with falsing, and it looks nice on the wall. My only real complaint is that the LED display is RIDICULOUSLY bright. How bright? Think night-light. It's in my basement, and I can walk around down there without any lights on. Since the battery is completely sealed and there is no off switch you cannot charge these units without getting a low-battery beep every single minute. After 2000 beeps it's becoming clear that the units don't recharge reliably. I wonder how many people will also experience this after their first power outage. |
