Very easy to install, and very easy to change battery. Same model was $18 at Home Depot. Saved $10 by getting it on Amazon. (Melbourne Beach Florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kidde i9070 Front Load Battery-Operated Ionization Sensor Smoke Alarm (Tools & Home Improvement) Not sure what model the first reviewer really had but Model i9070 is a battery powered detector and not a hard wired unit. I have several of these in areas with bugs (like screened porches) and have not had any false alarms. The majority of the house has hardwired detectors but for the areas that typically don't get detectors (like screened porches with hot tubs and attics) this is an excellent reasonably priced detector. Nalesnik "Tired Home Owner" (PA) - See all my reviews    I have had this alarm hard-wired throughout my new construction. I have had several problems with false alarms in the middle of the night. I found out that bugs were getting into the one in my garage and changing the ionization of the air, resulting in many false alarms at 2 and 3 AM. I fixed that by buying a few night-lights and keeping them in the garage, so the insects would be attracted there instead of the little green light on the alarm. Periodically I still have problems with them going off, and this morning was no exception. When I tried to "hush" the alarm today, I found that the button no longer functioned on the unit, which has only been installed for about 8 months now. I am changing these out for photoelectric sensing alarms instead, as I am extremely disappointed in the performance of such an integral part of my new house.
