| 1 of 5 people found the following review helpful  Ships with a cheap battery,  This review is from: Smoke Alarm - Dual Sensor - Detects Flaming and Smoldering Fires - Battery Operated - Kidde PI9000 Unlike smoke detectors I've purchased in the past, this one comes with a 1-year alkaline battery. This means that 1 year later (not ~5) you are awakened in the middle of the night by a loud chirp (it never seems to start chirping during the day). You can't find where the chirp is coming from. Once you think you've found it, it stops for a while. Even when standing right under the alarm, you can't really be sure the chirp is coming from this one.I'd prefer one that ships with a longer-life Lithium battery. That way, I'd need to go through this middle-of-the-night hide-and-seek game only once every 5 or so years instead of every year. P.S., That irritating hide-and-seek game is common to all battery smoke detectors, not just Kidde's. I wish someone would come up with a better way. |
