Amazon.com Product Description
Carbon monoxide (CO) is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America, yet many people don't know they are suffering from CO poisoning until its too late. Since symptoms of CO poisoning are like the flu, you might not even know you're in danger at first. That's why a carbon monoxide alarm is an excellent way to protect your family. It can detect the CO you can't see, smell or taste in the air.
The First Alert CO410 carbon monoxide alarm uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor-the most accurate technology available. This alarm is perfect for bedrooms, hallways, and basements. Its easy-to-read backlit digital LED display gives you a clear read-out of current CO concentrations in parts per million. It is powered by two AA replaceable batteries giving you peace of mind during power outages. The test/silence button both silences a non-threatening alarm and low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality. The alarm performs its own internal test as well. The unit monitors and re-alarms if carbon monoxide levels persist sounding a loud 85-decibel horn. No installation is required and the attractive design allows the unit to be placed anywhere you need it. It includes an optional wall mount--no outlet required. An audible and visual low battery signal alerts you to replace the battery. UL listed. --Bree Norlander

15 of 15 people found the following review helpful Broken Battery Door & Did Not Work Properly, This review is from: First Alert CO410 Battery Powered Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Display (Tools & Home Improvement) As happened to some of the other reviewers, the battery door on this detector broke the first time I opened it. I decided to give it a chance anyway and installed the batteries. The next day it randomly "alerted" me to high Carbon Monoxide levels. I silenced the alarm and then pushed the button to find out the "Peak Level" so that I would know why the alarm went off. It stayed at 0. Needless to say, I returned this. I ended up buying a Kidde brand detector (which I decided on after much research).Kidde KN-COPP-B Front Load Battery-Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Display 14 of 15 people found the following review helpful Failed out of the box. Not a trustworthy brand., Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: First Alert CO410 Battery Powered Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Display (Tools & Home Improvement) I bought this along with the cheaper First Alert CO400 model to replace two Kidde-brand models which had died within two years of purchase. I figured a different brand had to be better, right? No. I put in fresh batteries, and its fancy LCD panel displayed random meaningless lines rather than letters or numbers (similar to the way the Kidde models had failed, in fact), and refused to be reset to a sane state no matter what I did (and I tried everything). The other cheaper model was no better -- it one started making a squealing noise, somewhere between a proper alarm and a sick baby. Something was clearly not right, and again no amount of pushing buttons or changing batteries would help. I don't know about you, but that's all the chances I'm willing to give First Alert. If the two I got... I tried a few more times, then I noticed that the plastic latch that holds the door closed was starting to crack. After a few more tries, it broke completely. It was fine when I got it, this looks like a problem with the way they're made. If you have this unit, close the battery door, but don't open it unless you need to! You might not get it closed again... |
