Amazon.com Product Description
The BRK hardwire smoke alarm with photoelectric sensor and escape light is designed to reduce common "nuisance" alarms and light a path to safety. It's an excellent choice for installations in or near kitchens, family rooms, or in hallways directly outside bathrooms and bedrooms.
The 7020B AC-powered smoke alarm includes these features:
- Photoelectric sensor which is more effective at detecting smoldering fires which smolder for hours before bursting into flame.
- 120-volt VAC inter-connectable (with maximum 18 compatible devices). The alarm can be interconnected with up to 12 other compatible smoke alarms and six compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters and door closers. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. Power indicators show which unit in the series initiated the alarm.
- Escape light to help illuminate a path to safety.
- Automatically performs internal test of functionality.
- Quick connect pig tails for easy installation.
- 9-volt battery backup for peace of mind during power malfunction.
- Universal mounting bracket with screw slots.
- Optipath 360 technology allows 360-degree access to the layer of air on the ceiling or wall that carries the fire signatures (smoke, combustion particles and volatile components).
- Single test/silence button which both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality.
- Low battery indication to alert you to change the backup battery.
- 10-year limited warranty.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful smoke detector rememdy, Jack of all trades (Parkland, FL USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: BRK Brands 7020B Hardwire Photoelectric Sensor Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and Escape Light (Tools & Home Improvement) For years I had the BRK model 86RAC smoke detectors that were always churping, especially at night. I finally replaced them with the BRK 7020B. Very easy installation - the plugin attachment was perfect. These even came with a DC/AC escape light if a fire shuts down electrical service. I recommend this item for anyone needing to replace their smoke detectors. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful False Alarms, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BRK Brands 7020B Hardwire Photoelectric Sensor Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and Escape Light (Tools & Home Improvement) These BRK smoke alarms have issued alarms twice now, which lasted several hours each and resulted in lost work time. Initially, two of these would beep every minute and nothing I tried would stop it, so I had them replaced, and then these seemed to be OK, but almost every night we would hear a 1 second alarm. Then 2 weeks later, the alarms went off steady and nothing we tried would silence or reset them. We even had the gas company come out to check the gas applicances for CO2, since 2 of the units also had the CO2 detectors built in, but everything checked out fine, so I just started unplugging the units until the alarms stopped. A few days later, the remaining 3 alarms that I still had connected started another false alarm and eventually stopped. I don't have time to put up with issues like this, and it can result in not even believing your smoke alarms, when it may be a real fire! I only purchased these because they were plug compatible with the First Alert, but I will have... Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Be Careful! Old Stock. Shipped Product Not as Advertised., Dinkum - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BRK Brands 7020B Hardwire Photoelectric Sensor Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and Escape Light (Tools & Home Improvement) Be careful - they are not supplying the item they describe. They are shipping old stock (pre-July 2010) that does not have the 'Latching' feature. The product description on the Amazon website includes: "If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. Power indicators show which unit in the series initiated the alarm." The second sentence is the one that relates to the Latching feature, which identifies the interconnected sensor that actually went off. I ordered on 26 Sept 2011 and received a BRK 7020B that was made on 11 June 2009 - more than 2 years ago. Smoke alarms have a finite life, usually between 7 and 10 years. This model has a 10-year warranty "from date of purchase". Not sure I like their math! |
